I was watching the first round of this year's NFL Draft, and many emotions were flying around my house, including memories of what it was like 31 years ago when I was chosen in the MLB amateur draft.

My wife is a school teacher and mother. She was not happy with the way the media portrayed Johnny Manziel. Why were they picking on him so much? I told her the draft is really just your first step. I said this year's draft looks to Kenta Maeda Jersey be full of future stars, but that's not enough. You need drama. You need something sexy.

In baseball, there are so many levels after you get drafted. It could take years to realize your dream. That's not very sexy. Actually that's really boring. Gue ses, projections, who wants to hear that stuff?

In football, on the Mark Lowe Jersey other hand, the draftees (who we are used to seeing on TV as college players) will get a chance to play in the NFL in just a few months. Young men were crying, mothers and fathers were crying. I'm sure the tears came from happine s and relief that the wait was finally over. Nope, that's not exciting.

The odds against making it to MLB, the NFL, the NBA or NHL are staggering. The made-for-TV draft still can't do it justice. Thousands of careers of college football players ended a few months ago. Still not dramatic. Only a few hundred have a chance to live the dream Manny Machado Jersey of an NFL career. Nope, I'm not hooked yet.

There was one dark and spooky story line and the media chose to focus on Johnny Manziel. He's the Hook!

It's not easy to be "that" guy. But what is easy is to point out a few mi steps or flaws in a young man. Things that have nothing to do with football. I didn't hear about the Heisman Trophy-winning football player that he is, the one who elevated two of his teammates to be chosen ahead of him in the first round. I didn't hear about an undersized overachiever who kids could look up to.

No that stuff isn't sexy. Sticking a camera in his face 21 times after his name wasn't called is sexy, that stuff sells.

I'm glad The Cleveland Browns had the guts to take Johnny Manziel. He gets to start living a dream in a great sports town. One of my all-time favorite people and athletes, Jim Brown, played there. If Johnny Football can have half the career Mr. Brown had, going 22nd in The first round won't be so bad.

Whether it's Tim Tebow, Mantei Te'o or Johnny Manziel, there will always be a sexy story, but that's not what makes me want to watch football. Very ble sed humans, doing something most of us can only dream about, make me want to watch. I will watch the Browns play this season, not because of what Johnny Manziel Logan Forsythe Jersey can't do, but because of what he CAN DO.
