A four-hour "rain" delay. A half-hour after that last post, there were no signs the game would resume.

For those wondering, the game is official. The Cubs lead the Giants, 2-0, in the middle of the fifth inning. The umpires have chosen not tocallthe game because of wet grounds.

UPDATE: The umps finally said Jordan Zimmermann Jersey "Enough" at 2:16a.m. ET,after 4 hours and 34 minutes of waiting,and declared the game over. Cubs win,Giants lose. Tough blow forSan Fran, which is in a tight playoff race.

Expect the Giants to protest thedecision, even though baseball's rulesclearly support calling the game rather than suspending it. Giants manager Bruce Bochy would still like to appeal:

Giants are most likely going to protest the game. Bochy: "That's my last recourse. I hope they listen."

Umpire crew chief Hunter Wendelstedt, meanwhile, spoke with a pool reporter about the proce s of the delay and decision to end the game.

Number one, its a very important game with playoff implications. All parties involved from the office of the commi sioner to the umpires to the front office of the Chicago Cubs we exhausted all efforts to get this game played, he said,per the reporter ().

The bottom line, he said, was that the rules are clear.

I Nick Castellanos Jersey think the problem that all the parties faced was, by the baseball rulebook, there was nothing to put our hat on to suspend the game. The game became regulation with the home team winning in the top of the fifth inning. Thats a complete game, a regulation complete game, and there was really no way around it, Wendelstedt was quoted as saying.

By the way: The White Sox played the Orioles at U.S. Cellular Field, seven or so miles south of Wrigley, on Tuesday night with no rain.According to one report, there was some discu sion about completing the Giants-Cubs game at the Cell in the middle of the night.
