Hello everyone, my name is Albo and I am a Toronto, Canada digital creative. Through the JET Program, a cultural exchange initiative, I live and work in Japan right now. I started www.thejetcoaster.com in free time in order to highlight interesting facets of Japanese culture. Currently working on a documentary for the web called Drift Hunter about the subterranean touge (mountain pass) drifting scenario in Japan. Should you not know what drifting is:

"Drifting is a type of driving technique whereby a driver purposefully oversteers, causing a loss of traction in the rear wheels while maintaining control from entrance to exit of a corner". One thing led to another well after being in Japan, and finally I discovered I had achieved just that. A few years ago, a senior (mentor) of mine drove me to a secret drift meet deep in the mountains, where I got the incredible chance to capture the subterranean drifting scene.

If you like drifting, you have most likely heard of the gunma Prefecture-based anime Initial D, where I reside. One of the most incredible events of my life, it was rather visceral and raw. I grabbed the footage from that evening and created a quick movie that Kotaku picked up and went straight viral.

Drift Hunters is thus just as exciting as you could have imagined and is the actual life equivalent to the floating scenario in Initial D. Like many drifting enthusiasts, I originally learned about drifting and touge racing via the Initial D anime series during high school. At the time, I never imagined that my life would lead me to the real location of the anime in Gunma Prefecture, Japan, much less that I would have the chance to record the scene's real life equivalent.
